Goa A Potpourri of romance..
Everything in Goa has a certain casualness about it, the
people, the markets and even the buildings and architecture; all of them seem
to merge into a drunken medley of ease, calm and comfort.
Be it the roads running between the palm trees that seems to
meet the ocean at the horizon or the cool sands at its innumerable shores,
everything offers a sense of serenity and harmony.
The somber quiet of centuries old churches, the maddening
hubbub of the clubs, the intoxicating aromas of the pubs or the diners offering
delectable cuisines from across the world, Goa offers an assortment of delights
to all irrespective of their age, gender or idiosyncrasies.
It is a delight to be here, to experience happiness,
fulfillment & contentment. A place to wear off your worries, a place to
find joy, a place to find peace…
I came here mourning the death of a friend but as I go back
I have a smile on my face as I hum a song I heard last night in a pub “Give me hope Jo’anna , hope hope Jo’anna,

Musings of a jobless soul
Since I am not writing anything new these days, just thought of putting up some old pieces of shite I wrote..
This one was in december 2011.. I named this one as "the musings of a debarred jobless soul"
So many times it hits your nerve,
as life comes to a slowdown
approaching all bends and curve
You greet your dear ones
trying hard to keep reserve
And you leave them guessing
the cause behind this swerve,
You struggle through the journey
lacking the necessary verve
then you turn around the path
take a deep look and observe
this is where you are
is this really what you deserve??

Rahul's Mumbai Visit
(Sorry about my long absence from net due to unavoidable(& pleasant) circumstances :P)
Anyways back to blog..
LMAO, LOL, ROFWL
Well that's what I felt after watching the footage of Rahul's 'footwear' being ceremoniously picked up by Maharashtra minister of Home for state shri Ramesh Bagwe.
Though I personally have nothing against Rahul's parentage but I wonder how that could be put into words-- " There goes the great Marathi manoos pride under (semi) Italian feet".
Another intresting video shown repeatedly in the media - Rahul buying his own ticket to travel in the local train makes me wonder whether the ever dutiful Indian citizen paid for all those hundreds of policemen and commandos accompanying him or they just got a free ride??
Hmm....
As for Shiv Sena detestable as it itself is, failed completely to boo Rahul out of Mumbai, well it ought too, for 21500 policemen were engaged in the gentleman's security.
Kudos to the Maharashtra police..though they are a complete failure in protecting North Indians , this time they were successful in protecting an MP from Uttar Pradesh against Thackrey(s)'s tirade with their chief , the hon'Minister kissing the former's shoes.
Coming back to the shoe episode, another thought clicks..was it something like the great Ramayana episode with king Bharat carrying Ram's paduka on his head?? hmm...thoughtful... thoughtful indeed..
Well no idea there , just a lingering doubt..whether those shoes were of Italian design too??well my own are..

Scrapping the boards
Another UPA HRD minister continuing the legacy of his predecessors i.e. acting on merely his whims and fancies without properly thinking the outcome and consequences of his actions. This time it isn't reservations, this time it is something that completely breaks the backbone of our education system-- Scrapping the board exams.
With an eye to the future voters the Minister has come up with this draconian plan that removes the base around which a child's career is built.
Today an Indian student is considered superior than his western and eastern counterparts. An Indian professional is so much adept that he is feared by even the most powerful man in the world- The President of the United States who very recently said "Say no to Bangalore and Yes to Buffalo".
What is it that makes the Indian professional so much coveted by all the companies around the world? What makes him so successfull?
The answer is the competitive environment they find themselves into right at the childhood. By the time they leave college they are so much matured and so much used to hard working that they can easily take work pressures and get success in any field of life. It is the competitive attitude that builds inside the child that takes him to new heights in his career.
The reason given behind the scrapping-- To free the student of the stresses..
Hmm the minister must understand that a diamond becomes a diamond only after it undergoes high pressure and heat in the core of earth without which it is nothing but a lump of coke.
Another reason given is suicides..well suicides are there but how many?? 10-15-20-25 that is it..Now exams cannot be blamed for 25 committing suicide out of 25 million appearing for boards. The real culprits are the atmospheres at home which forces the students to take this step.
The minister says to stop all board exams and have a single test for all entrances.. Now will that single test wont traumatize the students? Also for hundreds of courses will we be now having a separate test for all? A nation wide test for law, a nationwide test for history. a test for literature etc etc...will that hold any meaning?
Also the students whole career will be based on his performance in those 2 hours of test..how fair will that be??
Now he comes up with another plan a grading system in boards.. So now some one having say 89 marks out of 100 will have the same grade as the one having 80 ( considering the various slabs of grading) so there it will kill merit. Not fair not fair at all to the ones burning the mid night oil to get good marks.
For grading system based on performance in school well I can only give a laugh..In a country where schools try any measure to get a "100%" result in boards which are fair, what will they do if they have the power to grade their students all by themselves?? Lol..teacher's pet anyone? I certainly wasnt one so maybe I would have failed under the proposed system...
As far as excelling in extra curricular activities are concerned students still have a lot of time for them right from Kindergarten classes to class 9th and then class 11th..It won't hurt to devote a couple of years from those 13-14 yrs of school life to studies.
The minister has to understand that competition builds confidence, it gives maturity, the strength to face the world and a platform for career building.
Moreover since the minister stresses that 10th board is not as important as the 12th boards then why not let it be??

Gimme Red!!
Funny how things turn out to be; an event leads to another which in its turn leads to another and so on..each one of these events, small or big can sometimes completely change a beings meaning of life, his morals, his ideologies and his perception of life.
The author of this blog used to be an absolute hater of communists, a pro-capitalist to the core but that was till he used to be a "drawing room thinker". But now, the things have changed. He is out in the "big bad" world. And for him now communism is the only thing "holy".
Why?? Let us see.. In the past six months or so over twenty four million people are "directly" out of jobs due to recession, the "indirect" victims being in billions. People are being thrown out of jobs, careers are being wasted, bright kids are being forced to beg and families are being forced to commit suicides. All for this recession --the great depression. These people are suffering and its not their fault, they are paying the price for other people's mistakes. And the real culprits, the real ugly dark faces are simply driving past the misery in their shiny silver plated mercs clad in rich tux..they have enough dough left to make sure their coming generations in live comfort.
What penalty are they paying for pushing the age into darkness?for destroying the livelihood of millions? What punishment are they liable to get for making the innocent lives miserable?None can suffice for the crimes they have committed are heinous. And are they feeling guilty?any remorse? No sir they are not..the money provided for the bail outs of their companies is being spent on the CEO's bonuses. So the money provided to help common man get a square meal is being well spent on thanksgiving turkeys, holidays in Miami and gold tapestries in their bed rooms.
Communism , a tool which takes power from these handful of billionaire villains responsible for the present catastrophe is the right thing to be endorsed. Control should be taken by governments and used for the well being of working masses.These capitalists must be made to pay for their sins. Equal rights must be given to the employer and the employee , a clause underlined in communism. The rich should not be allowed to get away with their crimes, equality must prevail, justice must prevail...Time to go Red.....

Final Judgement 2009
The verdict for 2009 elections is out. It has been a thumping win for United Progressive Alliance (U.P.A.) with Indian National Congress getting over 200 seats in the assembly.
The best thing to come out of these elections were that most of the smaller regional (read communal-casteist-separatist) parties were swept out. Mayawati's B.S.P, Mulayam Singh's S.P., Lalu's R.J.D, Paswan's L.J.D., Deve Gowda's J.D.(s), Chandrababu Naidu's T.D.P. to name a few.
The biggest and the most prominent losers this time were the Leftists- their toll crashing from nearly 70 in the last election to nearly 25 in this election.
The people this time voted not on cast and regional basis but gave preference to national parties and rightfully so, for these small parties act as merely blackmailers at the centre, haggling and hussling the leading party for their selfish gains. The government was forced to wet their beaks every time a major decision was to be taken and most importantly it was not allowed to take any decision in national favour as most of the time it clashed with these small parties "ideologies" (read vote banks). As seen in the 15 th Lok Sabha, the left parties never allowed the leading Congress to take any step in the country's favour warning to walk out every time.
How can a country even plan to develop when we have such blackmailers at the centre checking the government's each and every step.So this time the Indian voters have quite intellectually voted for the main parties, being well aware that a weak and puppet government is absolutely no good and it must be strengthened.

Slave Mentality
Its been over sixty years ever since we have gained independence, more than half a century since we chased out the English out of our country..truly a proud thing to talk about..
"chased the English out of our country" but have we chased " English out of our minds"???
The most heinous thing the Britishers did to us was lowering our morale, making us believe that we are some kind of cockroaches struggling to be saved out of the gutter, some kind of second rated citizens because of our colour and our language..they zeroed our level of confidence and made us insecure about every movement we tended to make.
Though we successfully won the country back we didnt win back the confidence; the second rate feeling, the "disgusting" feeling we get while relating to anything Indian. Be it Indian goods or Indian culture or Indian language every thing sucks..
And this mentality is equally dominant among the kids, the youth and the older generation as well..Namaste is yuk and hey there is cool..Am I making sense now?
How many times have you heard mommies boasting proudly of there children "you see our vicky doesnt know Hindi (or any other regional language), always struggles with it but yeah his English is superb"...Is this a thing to be proud of???
Shameful Shameful indeed..it is no crime not be well conversed in your mother tongue but being proud of the fact??? Sounds pretty disgusting to me..
The other day I was chatting to a lady friend..she said jokingly "I am a vampire and I Am going to suck your blood". I replied "yeah chudail go on".Her expressions suddenly changed "Call me Vampi or Dracula or devil but not chudail please, its so low standard"..right so matrabhasha is low standard now..saddened as I was with her reply, I thought this is a phenomenon we witness everywhere; the suppression of India..though Indianism is not merely speaking in the native or wearing khadi but this kind of degrading behaviour toward anything local is completely deplorable.
Who is responsible for it?? What can be done about it?? What will change the mentality of the people?? These are some questions that need to be pondered over and provided a solution...

Tata Nano..Small car's big impact
So finally the launch date for the much awaited Tata Nano has been declared---March 23rd..
Truly the car will bring Indian auto sector into world scenario by launching the cheapest car ever..
But I have some views regarding it..
Nano the cheapest car costing only 1lack rupees (US $2000) will be affordable even to the commonest man..The sales will be high (predictably) and nearly everyone will become a car owner...ok so far so good but then..
Even in the present conditions its a nightmare to drive in most of the cities..Narrow road spaces, high traffic and frequent jams are a daily scenes..The Indian Road system is unable to bear such high pressure even today God knows what will happen when every second person is going to own a car.
It is a poor man's car as advertised ; alright agreed but that doesn't mean that rich are not going to buy it..Instead of buying bikes for their school going kids now they will buy a car..One car per child..how interesting..
Where is the parking space going to come from? 99% of the Indian cities do not have a well planned parking system in markets , you can find vehicles parked anywhere..
After nano?? i think it would be impossible to go to the market itself..the office buildings, the college- school buildings, the residential buildings, all will surely run out of parking lots..
Then what about pollution? The suspended particles in the air already exceed the danger mark by a large amount what will happen after thousands of new cars will be rushing on the streets emitting dangerous gasses..One cancer per child maybe..or one bronchitis per child..
Then the fuel problems.. fuel is already lacking..what will happen in the future I dread..
Now don't call me a pessimist after reading all that for even I am waiting for the car with the same enthusiasm as others...just a little worriedly though....

Moral Police..how immoral!!

Such was the scene inside the amnesia pub in Mangalore when a gang of hooligans attacked the ladies present there...The ladies were beaten , their hair pulled, thrown on the grown n Sexually molested..All this done in the name of religion and culture, for the hooligans called themselves "Sri Ram Sene"
The so called guards of the Indian culture acted like the worst kind of degenerates..What Indian culture permits the harassment of women? Which religion gives them the privilege of beating young girls? According to the myth the Sri Ram Sena consisted of monkeys who fought like true warriors for saving a woman abducted by the demon king. But the modern day sena though consisting of men acted like wild beasts in a jungle disgracing the Ram-naam..
What are they trying to proveby this sick , disgusting, shameful and brutal display of power? Perhaps trying to glorify the "rich Indian culture" and "sanatan dharma"..
Few days back i read in the papers about Swat, the taliban captured area of Pakistan where the militants have issued an order that no woman shall have any right in the society and live like slaves. The women were told not to come out of their houses..if they do they should be accompanied by their husbands and always be clad in their burkha. The girls' schools were bombed and several girls were molested.
The current incident in Mangalore mirrors this attitude.
As if all this was not enough , even the Karnataka Government supportes the hooligans and said that their objective was right though the methos "may be" wrong..Due to increasing public pressure 27 out of the 40 goons were arrested and were granted bail the very next day..well democratic India...
The media persons were equallyas guilty of the crime as the perpetrators, they knew that the incident was going to take place so instead of informing the police they comfortably reached the place 15 mins prior to the sene and set up their cameras at the right places. Even while the girls were being molested they were busy filming this and did nothing to stop this brutality..
Who is responsible for such sadistic , uncivilised, unethical display of behaviour? the government? the narrow mindset? or lack of proper education?
Proper steps are needed to be taken to stop such incidents in future. The governments, the police and the law courts must act now so that future talibisation of India could be prevented...

Patil, Patil, dogs and Martyr!!
A frightful week...and i am not just saying about the attacks...
What happened in Mumbai was terrible..really heinous..But what followed was....eh sickening!!!
Our own so called capable leaders....just caring about their own agenda..just looking forward to using the attacks for their own benefit!!! And as if this was not it..now they have even scooped down to level of insulting the common man!!
First in the line was our dear "Ex"-Home Minister Shivraj Patil...Although this time he maintained silence over the issue ..Actually poor chap had nothing to say , maybe he ran out of condoling messages..A leader who is( sorry was) responsible for controlling the crime and violence seems like is more concerned about the way he looks!!! Sporting in three different suits at three sites of blasts in Delhi was just too much for everyone to digest...
Next in line another Patil , Mr Raosaheb Ramchandra Patil, the "Ex"-Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra!!
Already maligned for his devoted support to Raj Thakray was so cool and calm after the disasterous attacks said "bade bade shehro mein aisi choti choti baten hoti reheti hain" ( small things like this always occur in big cities) ..
Disgusting ..Disgraceful.....
Then came a big shock when martyr Sandeepan Unnikrishnan's family was insulted publicly by Kerala CM VS Achuthanandan...
Sandeepan's mourning father harassed by the arrival of sniffer dogs and through frisking of the house by black commandoes prior to the visit by the CM asked the ministers to leave..
The reply by the honourable minister really came as a bolt to everybody..
In a press meeting he said "Had it not been for Sandeepan even a dog wouldnt have gone to his house!!!!" The audacity of that man...
Not to lag in the race , BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi after watching the people paying homage to the dead and demanding an explanation from the ministers said
" Ye lipstick - powder laga ke aurten aur suit pehen kar log aa jate hain netaon se jawab mangne , ye log un terrorists ki tarah hain jo Kashmir mein atank faila rahe hain.."
Have these ministers lost all shame???Do they not even care about the sentiments of people???
The same people who made them what they are..and now all they care about is their chair and power!!!
Are these the leaders on which India is depending upon to become a future superpower??
Though the Patils had to resign after the episode, these statements by the men in white reflect the true image of a politicians mind..Dirty and filthy as it is...

Evil that men do lives after them...
A few decades ago a certain misanthrope called Bhimrao was born in India. A so called scheduled by birth!! (As if it matters) anyways...
As all evil men the guy went in to join politics..while swearing an oath to be fair and impartial he did a stunt to strengthen his hold on the chair. Hatching some overly disgusting plan he went on to propagate reservation of seats in jobs, colleges etc for the persons of his own caste.. Hence shoving the future of country into doom by giving authority to incompetent, non- meritorious, ill trained personnel..He succeeded in his plan and came to be worshiped as God by his fellow caste members..(Come to India you ll find his statues at every corner of a street..even more than Gandhi)
As all incarnations of devil this man had followers too..There was a certain VP Singh..(died yesterday after loosing a painful battle with leukaemia ..God's justice i would say)
Then another misanthrope Arjun Singh..and many more
What they did was certain to make any developing nation ashamed..They did irretrievable damage to the nation by placing fools on top by snatching right of deserving candidates..
Thus the modern India and its unique concept of reservation..According to which more than half the seats available in colleges , jobs available are booked for incompetent persons from a certain caste impeding more meritorious and much more deserving candidates from getting a decent living..and thus forcing them to live in poverty and depravity..
Also the damage done to the nation being unsurmountable ...what can you expect from a country having underqualified undereducated people as doctors, administrators, collectors and engineers..
There were many peaceful protests from the country by many enraged student bodies clearly aghast at this severe injustice..but to no avail..police silenced the voices..students were beaten, locked up and tortured..and hence the voice of democracy silenced.
Politicians now use reservation as a tool to gather votes and remain in power..
Merit is neglected, justice is neglected..
A person getting 95% is deprived of admission while another getting below 50% walks past by waving his admission letter and "Caste certificate" to the former's face.
Same case with jobs while the majority has to compete and study hard the caste ones gets easy jobs and easy money..What kind of justice is this??what kind of democracy??
It is as bad as Hitler murdering the jews...The only difference being the jews were killed immediately while here the students are left to die a slow starving death..
Truely a shameful scenario which sometimes makes me regret my being an Indian....

Ah listening to this beautiful song by Rabbi...
India needs many more songs like this...One of the most beautiful lyrics I have ever heard..
Coming to think of the message it imparts.. to think of Satyendra Dubey , of Manjunath and many other heroes like them..of what they did , why they did and what they got in return....
Yesterday I made a friend of mine listen to this song....And all he said was.."The music seems good but who are these people??" As I tried to explain i thought that this is the new generation..it knows the full biography of the latest actress playing the tiniest role in the flop(est) movie but not our true heroes..while it is busy humming ilu-ilu(s) and shaking its bon-bon , songs like this go unnoticed..
They dont even know who dies for them..simply unaware of truth...
Then they say "the f***ing country is going to the dogs" ....No my dear friend the country is not going to dogs, its the countrymen who are transforming into dogs..you and me included..
They say we need more Gandhis and Bhagats...Brudda even they too would be helpless against your deaf and dumb and blind attitude..
Nothing can be done , nothing can be achieved unless we rise, unless we open our eyes and unless we hear to the plight of people..

Religion..My Views
A famous saying goes..
"Religion is an opium for people"
I have heard this quote many times. Many of my friends are of this view and propagate to ban religion.They say religion is responsible for so many atrocities being committed- The crusades, Jihads, riots , suicide bombings etc..
But sadly enough they seem to miss some of the most basic points while saying this.
What i believe is that blaming religion for these crimes is like blaming melanin for racism.
It is not religion's fault that people tend to satiate their own complexes, frustrations in life and vile desires using it as a shield. No religion in the world would justify rapes and massacres...
The problem lies not with religion but with people's mind.
Religion is something that brings about strong emotions in the people, and man as weak a creature as he is against his emotions loses his power to reason and follows the "devil's path".
But that is the case with many things; love for example creates strong emotions. Now some people develop these emotions into terrible jealousy and commit all sorts of heinous crimes..
Does that mean we should ban love too?
Or let us take another example -Sex; it causes one of the most terrible disease ever encountered by humans. But again they are acquired by man's own fault and not by the fault of intercourse.
Ban it and human race ends..
Anything that causes emotions can be an enemy of humans if mis-handled. We cant just go on banning every thing..
They say look at crusades , look at jihad -such terrible acts of terrorism..
I say look at the attrocities by the Chinese on Buddhist monks.What should I call it? -"Atheist Terrorism"???
How can a prince who lived fourteen long years in the forest likea beggar just to keep his father's promise support rapes??
How can a man who underwent the most terrifying torture of being hung on the cross to save humanity from hell preach massacres ??
Have you ever stood in the temple and looked at the "linga" ? Can't you see the whole universe whirling and un-whirling in the silent black stone?? Don't you feel immense peace while looking at it??
Or what do you feel when you see that semi-naked bearded man hanging painfully on the cross?? Aren't you reminded of your sins??
Do these objects of worship inspire you to be violent and kill others?
No sire they do not.
The man who uses them as an excuse to kill can never be a religious person, he has never understood religion. Then why blame religion for the crimes of a non-religious person??
A match can light a hundred lamps whereas it can also start a conflagration..
All depends on the hand wielding it....

The role of Institutes
There is a famous quote that you can read on every second T-Shirt. It says:
" I was born intelligent but Education spoiled me"
I find this banal completely true in my case. I got a good all India rank in my pre-eng examsand thus landed in a college which I hoped would enhance my knowledge and workability.
But what i actually found that I was just another customer paying money and buying my degree.
I guess this is the condition of 95% of the institutes in India or even more.
They are just money making "industries" which excel in attracting youths with their imposing piles and lucrative job offers once you successfully "purchase" your full degree.
Is this education all about?? I mean there is some difference between being educated and being literate. Is the youth educated? Getting an engineering or MBA or MBBS degree makes one a good citizen ?
What is the role of an institute in shaping up the life and career of an aspirant?
Just to turn him into a money making machine? Is that it? Getting him a five or six figure salary at the end? And what about the values that one expects out of a learned professional ? Who will teach them?
What about the moral and ethical values that should be and "must be" imbibed in every individual? Are these institutes making "responsible humans" or simply manufacturing "machine coded robots"?
Half hearted lectures by the proffs attended by even more half heartedly by the students this is all our education comprises of. I believe that there should be proper awareness programs inside colleges training the students in various aspects of their lives and surrounding. There should be economics, civics, environmental and moral lessons given compulsorily in each institute be it technical or medical or arts. And not only theoretical explainations but also practical tours familiarising the students with their own country. The students should be trained that what should be the moral duty of every individual in shaping up the future of his nation and society. Just make him aware of his surroundings.
We do not need more Gandhis or Boses, what we require is the feeling inside every individual that it is his obligation to not be a selfish bloke but consider the wellbeing of his nation, society and the humankind. And for bringing this feel inside the young generation the role of the institutes holds the most importance.institues is most importance
